TO ENTER, YOU (AND, IF AN ELIGIBLE MINOR, YOUR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN) MUST READ THE OFFICIAL RULES BELOW AND AGREE TO THE RULES BY CLICKING "I AGREE" WHERE INDICATED.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. MANY WILL ENTER FEW WILL WIN. OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF, AND RESIDING IN ME, VT, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, SC, AL, GA, SD, MN, WI, IA, MO, IL, IN, KY, MI, OH, WV, PA, MD, FL, VA, NC, DC AND NY WHO ARE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 6 AND 18 AND WHO ARE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AN ACCREDITED PUBLIC, PRIVATE, PAROCHIAL SCHOOL OR HOME SCHOOL LOCATED IN THE ONE OF THE ABOVE STATES AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. VOID OUTSIDE THE STATES LISTED AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

1. ELIGIBILITY: The Arnold "Best in Class" Sandwich Challenge is open to legal residents of, and residing in ME, VT, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, SC, AL, GA, SD, MN, WI, IA, MO, IL, IN, KY, MI, OH, WV, PA, MD, FL, VA, NC, DC and NY who are between the ages of 6 and 18 and who are students enrolled in an accredited public, private, parochial school, or home-schooled, located in one of the above states at the time of entry. The following are not eligible: employees, contractors, directors and officers of Arnold Products, Inc. ("Sponsor"), its parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, distributors, web design, advertising, fulfillment, judging and Contest agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Contest (collectively, "Contest Parties"), and the immediate family members of each (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, and spouse or "step" of each, regardless of where they reside) and those living in their same households (those persons whether related or not who live in the same residence for at least three months during the twelve-month period preceding the start date of the Contest). An eligible minor must have his/her parent's or legal guardian's permission to participate. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

2. CONTEST ENTRY PERIOD: You may enter the Contest between 12:00:01 AM Central Time ("CT") on 3/2/09 and 11:59:59 PM CT on 5/4/09 ("Contest Entry Period"). Sponsor's time clock is the official clock for this Contest.

3. TO ENTER: Create an original sandwich recipe with Arnold Bread, including step-by-step directions. To enter your recipe, log on to www.arnoldsandwichchallenge.com ("Web Site") during the Contest Period, click on the contest link and follow the on-screen directions starting with providing your date of birth. After you have registered (or your parent or legal guardian has registered for you, as applicable) and signed in, post a recipe in the properly designated recipe area on arnoldsandwichchallenge.com (collectively, with registration, "Recipe" or "Entry"). Your Recipe will be assigned to the appropriate age category, based on your age at the time of entry:

  • 6-8 years of age
  • 9-12 years of age
  • 13-15 years of age
  • 16-18 years of age
You may post an unlimited number of unique Recipes; however each Recipe must be significantly different than any other Recipe you have posted. Recipes must be 500 words or less and must be written in English. All entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM CT on 5/4/09 to be considered. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means and Entries by any means which subvert the entry process will be void. Once submitted, all Entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Entries must be original; may not have won previous contests or awards; may not have been published previously; must not infringe any third-party's rights; must be suitable for publication (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent); may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations; may not contain any reference to any third party trademarks, names or third party logos (other than Arnold Bread) and may not contain any copyrighted works owned by third parties. All Entries will be reviewed for content before being judged. Entries containing prohibited or inappropriate content, Entries that are not in keeping with Sponsor's image, and Entries that are not in compliance with these Official Rules, all as determined by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, will be disqualified. Sponsor makes the final determination as to what Entries are eligible to take part in this Contest. By entering, entrant (and, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) grants Sponsor and its designees the unconditional right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such Entry in any way, in any and all media, now or hereafter known, worldwide in perpetuity, without limitation, and without notification, permission, compensation or consideration to the entrant or any third party, whether or not such submission is selected as a winning Entry. By submitting an Entry, entrant (and, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) grants permission for the Entry to be posted on the Web Site at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Entrant (and, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) agrees that the Contest Parties are not responsible for any unauthorized use of Entries by third parties. Contest Parties do not guarantee the posting or other use of any Entry. Entrants (and, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) acknowledge that Sponsor may create on its own or obtain any Entries in connection with this Contest and that such Entries may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format and other respects to others submitted under this Contest and/or other contests staged and/or sponsored by Sponsor, and waive any and all claims entrant may have had, may have, and/or may have in the future, that any Entries and/or other works accepted, reviewed and/or used by other entrants and/or Sponsor (or its designees) may be similar to entrant's.

4. SELECTION OF FINALISTS: The three (3) Entries in each age category with the highest scores for that age category will be deemed finalists ("Finalists"), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, for a total of twelve (12) Finalists. The Twelve (12) Finalists will be selected by an independent panel of judges ("Judges") on or about 5/24/09. Each eligible Entry will be judged based on the judging criteria ("Judging Criteria") set forth below. Limit one (1) Finalist per registered user/ household.

5. JUDGING: Judging will be based on the following criteria:

  • (#1) Originality And Creativity - 50% - Uniqueness and creativity of recipe.
  • (#2) Healthfulness - 25% - Includes ingredients that are healthy and nutritious.
  • (#3) Perceived Ease of Preparation - 25% - Your Entry must be easy for users to prepare and include ingredients that are available everyday.
In the event of a tie, the tie breaking Judge will re-judge the tied Entries to determine the Finalist(s) based on Originality and Creativity of Recipe (100%), continuing thereafter to each Judging Criteria in order, as needed to break the tie. Sponsor reserves the right to advance fewer than three (3) Finalists per age category to the Selection of Winners phase if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries for an age category. Entrants (and, if minors, their parents or legal guardians) agree that the Judges have the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this Contest and that all decisions are final and binding.

6. SELECTION OF WINNERS: After the twelve (12) Finalists have been selected and verified, the Finalist Entries will be posted online at www.arnoldsandwichchallenge.com and Web Site visitors (including Contestants) will be able to vote for their favorite Recipe (based on creativity and taste). To vote, visit arnoldsandwichchallenge.com and follow the directions to vote. Votes received from any person or email address in excess of the stated limitation will be void. The voting period begins at 12:00:01 AM CT on 5/24/09 and ends at 11:59:59 PM CT on 6/22/09 (the "Voting Period"). Limit one (1) vote per person per email address per age category per day. A "Day" is defined as the 24 hours between 12:00:01 AM CT and 11:59:59 PM CT. Votes received for any age category from any person, user or email address in excess of stated limitation will be void. Automated methods of voting (including votes made by script, macro and bot) and votes by any means which subvert the voting process are strictly prohibited and all such votes will be void. Finalists are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Voting through multiple accounts is strictly prohibited. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the Finalist from each age category that receives the highest number of valid votes, as determined by Sponsor, will be deemed the Grand Prize winner for that age category. Limit one (1) prize per email address, per person and per household. In the unlikely event of a tie in any age category, the Judges will select the winner for the applicable age category based on which Finalist received the highest score(s) in the Selection of Finalists phase and such Finalist will be deemed the winner. Entrants (and if eligible minors, their parents or legal guardians) agree that the Sponsor and Judges have the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this Contest and that all decisions of Sponsor are final and binding. Prize awards are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.

7. FOUR (4) GRAND PRIZES: A US Savings Paper I Bond in the amount of $1,500 (value in full) to use for continuing education ("Student Grand Prize"). The school where each Grand Prize winner is enrolled will also receive a $5,000 check intended for use in the winner's classroom ("School Grand Prize"). If any winner is a home schooled student, his/her parent or legal guardian will be responsible for designating a 501(3)(c) charity in lieu of the School Grand Prize described above, subject to Sponsor's approval, and Sponsor will provide a check directly to such charity. If any winner is an eligible minor, Student Grand Prize will be awarded in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian who will be responsible for fulfilling all requirements imposed on winners set forth herein. All prize awards are subject to compliance with these Official Rules.

8. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Winners of the Student Grand Prize are solely responsible for all federal, state and local taxes on the prize and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. Recipients of the School Grand Prize are solely responsible for all federal, state and local taxes on the prize, if any, and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. Each Student Grand Prize winner will be issued an IRS Form 1099 for the actual value of the Student Grand Prize. No cash equivalent or substitution of prize (or any portion thereof) is offered, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Grand Prizes are non-transferable and non-refundable. All prize details are at Sponsor's sole discretion. By participating, entrants (and, if eligible minors, their parents or legal guardians) agree to these Official Rules, the decisions of Sponsor and Judges and Sponsor's Privacy Policy (available at http://arnold.gwbakeries.com) which are final and binding in all respects. Each potential winner (and his/her parent or legal guardian) will be notified by phone and/or mail and will be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release, and, where lawful, a Publicity Release within ten (10) days of date of attempted notification or Student Grand Prize may be forfeited and awarded to the runner-up for the applicable age category. An authorized representative of each winning school will be notified via phone and/or email and will be required to sign and return Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release, and where lawful, a Publicity Release within ten (10) days of date of attempted notification or prize may be forfeited. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize with one of comparable or greater value. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who is responsible or who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, modify or terminate the Contest. In the event Contest is cancelled or terminated, Sponsor reserves the right to select winners for the applicable age categories from among all eligible, non-suspect Entries received up to time of such action using the judging procedure outlined above. This Contest is offered only in the United States and is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with venue in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, without giving any effect to any choice of law rules, and all claims must be resolved in the state courts located in Montgomery County, or the federal courts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania .

9. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: No liability or responsibility is assumed by Contest Parties resulting from entrant's participation in or attempt to participate in the Contest or download any information in connection with participating in the Contest. Contest Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, delayed, misdirected, undelivered, or garbled Entries, or votes. No responsibility or liability is assumed by the Contest Parties for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Contest: hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any e-mail transmissions to be sent to or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted e-mail transmissions; inaccessibility of the Web Site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestions on the Internet or the Web Site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an account used in connection with the Contest. Contest Parties are not responsible for any typographical, printing, network, mechanical, electronic, human or other errors in the connection with this Contest, including without limitation, the announcement of prizes, the tabulation of votes, the processing of Entries, errors in these Official Rules, any Contest-related materials, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Web Site. Use of Web Site is at user's own risk. Contest Parties are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user's or any other person's computer equipment resulting from participation in the Contest, use of the Web Site or the download of any information from the Web Site. By participating in the Contest, the entrant (and, if eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) thereby releases Contest Parties from any and all claims, loss, injury, damages or liabilities arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from participation in the Contest or acceptance, misuse or use of any prize. Except where prohibited by law, by accepting prize, each winner (and, if eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) grants permission for Sponsor and those acting under its authority to use his/her name, city and state of residence, photograph, voice and/or likeness, for advertising and/or publicity purposes, in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented without territorial or time limitations and without additional compensation, notification or permission. By accepting a prize, each school agrees to the use of its name, location, trademarks, logos, photograph, and/or image in any and all media now or hereafter known, worldwide and on the Internet, and in perpetuity by Sponsor and its designees, without compensation (unless prohibited by law) or additional consents from school or its authorized representatives or any third party and without prior notice, approval or inspection, and to execute specific consent to use if asked to do so. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS' FEES) FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an online, entrant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant and he/she must comply with these Official Rules. Authorized account holder of the email address is defined as the person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning emails for the email address associated with the submitted entry.
